This Zero Data Retention Policy explains how Unmetered Machines, Inc. dba Particle AI (“Particle,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles inputs and outputs when customers use our standard inference services.

01 / What zero data retention means

For standard inference, Particle does not intentionally store raw prompts, inputs, responses, or outputs in persistent application storage after a request completes.

Customer Content may be processed and cached temporarily in memory only as reasonably necessary to perform and accelerate the requested inference. Particle does not use Customer Content to train, fine-tune, or improve AI models unless the customer separately and affirmatively opts in. Using the Services or accepting the Terms of Service is not an opt-in.

02 / Information we may retain

Zero data retention applies to raw inference content, not to content-free operational information. Particle may retain information such as:

  • account and organization identifiers;
  • request identifiers and API-key identifiers;
  • model names, token counts, prices, and costs;
  • timestamps, latency, and status codes;
  • IP addresses and related security events; and
  • billing, account, and technical information.

We use this information to operate, secure, support, bill for, analyze, and improve the Services. We do not intentionally include raw prompts or outputs in these records.

03 / Scope

This Policy applies to Customer Content submitted through Particle’s standard inference endpoints. It does not apply to information a customer chooses to provide outside those endpoints, including account information, billing records, support requests, sales communications, feedback, or other business correspondence.

It also does not control data stored by a customer’s own systems, applications, logging tools, or third-party integrations. A separately signed agreement, order form, data processing addendum, or expressly identified service configuration may provide additional or different commitments and will control to the extent of a conflict.

04 / Limited exceptions

Particle may preserve or disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to investigate fraud or unauthorized access, enforce our Terms, or protect Particle, our customers, or others. This does not require Particle to retain Customer Content it otherwise does not retain.

If a customer separately asks Particle to store content, enables a feature that requires storage, submits content for support or debugging, or affirmatively opts in to evaluation, training, or improvement, the applicable disclosure or written agreement will govern that content.

05 / Customer responsibilities

Customers are responsible for the content they submit and for configuring their own applications, logs, and integrations. Do not submit information prohibited by the Terms of Service or a model-specific policy. Customers should independently evaluate whether Particle’s Services and this Policy meet their legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements.

06 / Relationship to other terms

This Policy supplements Particle’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. It is a statement of Particle’s current practices and does not replace a separately signed agreement or create a service-level agreement.

07 / Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as our Services, practices, or legal obligations change. We will post the updated version and revise the effective date.
